Currux Miles Orduña January 12, 2021  Currux is a Houston, TX-based subscription service. Subscribers can choose the car they want and commit to it for either 6, 12, or 24 months at a time at a time. Also, Currux provides the option for customers to share a single subscription with up to 3 other customers, essentially splitting the monthly cost three ways. What does a Currux subscription look like? Subscribers can check out Currux’s marketplace of cars, either through Currux’s website or through their mobile app. Each car comes with its own monthly fee, and set of available subscription options. These options include things like, lengths of available terms, how many people can subscribe to the car at once, and whether or not insurance, concierge service, or maintenance is included. Once set up, the customer has to see their term through, or cancel early, in order to subscribe to a different car. Customers can also negotiate a pay-by-month plan for certain Currux cars. How much does it cost? Each car has its own monthly price that differs between different term lengths. At the time of this review, the cheapest advertised option was $362 per month for a 2018 KIA Rio LX, and the most expensive was a $1325 for a 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter C2500, a large van. Also, all the available cars didn’t have insurance or maintenance included with their monthly fees. However, Currux’s displayed prices on their website and their app are only an indicative price range. Where does it operate? Currux only operates in Houston, TX. How do I sign up? Download the Currux mobile app or head over to the Currux website. There you can browse all the cars they have available. Pick the one that fits your needs and fill out all the corresponding info Currux needs to create your account and approve your request – this includes a credit and driver history check. Once you’re approved, Currux will charge you for the first month of your term and schedule the delivery of your car, if applicable. Otherwise, they’ll have your car ready for pick up. Am I eligible for Currux? If you’re in the Houston area, are 21 or older, and have a valid driver’s license and payment method, you’re eligible to apply. How long do I have to wait for my new car? This depends on the vehicle you want. Some cars are available for pick-up or delivery right away, others may not be available yet. It should only take a few moments for the sign up and approval process. Can I try the service before I commit to it? Currux doesn’t offer a trial period. Can I swap vehicles? You can’t swap vehicles without cancelling your current subscription. Currux will charge you an early termination fee if you cancel before you fulfill your agreed upon subscription term. How do I cancel Currux? You can cancel your subscription early by contacting Currux and letting them you intend to cancel. Currux will charge you an early termination fee upon cancellation. Currux vs. Lease Depending on which vehicle you’ve subscribed to, this difference could be as little as how long your commitment to the car is, or as large as it would be with a more comprehensive subscription plan that includes insurance, maintenance, a concierge service, and car swapping. Which cars are available? At the time of this review, Currux offered various models from the following auto brands: BMW, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Jeep, KIA, Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Ram, Tesla, Toyota, and Volkswagen. What is included in the Currux monthly price? This varies for each car. When you browse Currux’s available cars, it’ll tell you if insurance, maintenance, and/or a concierge service are available. Though just about every car I browsed had maintenance included, most – if not all – didn’t have insurance or a concierge service included. That said, all Currux cars come with a mileage allowance of 15,000 miles, and vehicle registration covered. What is not included in the Currux monthly price? If your car doesn’t come with insurance, you’ll have to provide your own or purchase a plan through Currux or the Currux Fleet Manager handling your request. Also, if maintenance isn’t included with your subscription, you’ll be responsible for those costs. If you’re late in returning your car, Currux can charge you extra fees per day for each day after it’s required return date. Is Currux right for you? It really depends on if you can find a car and plan you like through their marketplace. The less that is included with a car’s monthly fee, the less attractive Currux’s offerings are. Q: Can other people drive my Currux car? A: Each car has a set number of available subscribers who all share the monthly subscription cost. Most cars are only available to one subscriber at a time. You can’t add additional drivers to your current plan, but you can share the car with other subscribers. Q: Can I drive Currux outside the US? A: You cannot drive outside of the U.S. Q: Can I buy out the Currux vehicle if I want to keep it? A: Yes, Currux offers its available cars for sale. Final Verdict: Though the prices are very reasonable, and there’s no activation or sign-up fee, the lack of consistency in what each vehicle’s subscription includes, is annoying. Of the models available during this review, none had insurance or concierge included, and the pay-by-mile plan wasn’t a choosable option when configuring a subscription. https://bestcarsubscription.org/currux-car-subscription-service-review/
